There is a lot to catch up on, but I don’t have a lot of time to go through everything. Let’s start by going through betting odds for the different matches to add a few to the overall list. Then we will check in to see how all of my pre-flop wagering is looking right now.
Friday Afternoon Four-Balls:
Justin Thomas / Jordan Spieth (+110) vs. Viktor Hovland / Tyrrell Hatton (-138) – It was a gutsy call to break up Rahm and Hatton, but I still don’t think the American’s have enough firepower here to overcome Hovland and Hatton.
Scottie Scheffler / Brooks Koepka (-110) vs. Jon Rahm and Nicolai Hojgaard (-110) – Nicolai can be expected to be a bit in over his head in this round. I could see Rahm playing well, but not sure if he can play well enough to beat the Americans here.
Max Homa / Wyndham Clark (-163) vs. Robert MacIntyre / Justin Rose (+130) – I really believe in Justin Rose enough to take advantage of some value here.
Collin Morikawa & Xander Schauffele (+110) vs. Rory McIlroy & Matt Fitzpatrick (-138) – This one is going to be close. I’ll take the underdog.
Saturday Morning Foursomes:
Justin Thomas / Jordan Spieth (+138) vs Rory McIlroy & Tommy Fleetwood (-150) – I have to take a shot with the Americans here. I don’t believe in Tommy Fleetwood.
Scottie Scheffler / Brooks Koepka (-120) vs. Viktor Hovland / Ludvig Aberg (-105) – Americans are the better golfers, Europeans will do better with the format. No Bet.
Max Homa / Brian Harman (-110) vs. Shane Lowry / Sepp Straka (-110) – I’m going to go with the better golfers here. Homa and Harman.
Patrick Cantlay / Xander Schauffele (+105) vs. Jon Rahm / Tyrell Hatton (-130) – The price is right here. I can’t talk myself into betting either.
Saturday Afternoon Four-Balls:
Colin Morikawa / Sam Burns vs. Viktor Hovland / Ludvig Aberg – I don’t have betting odds, but I’m taking Hovland/Aberg at any price. I’d expect them to be slight favorites. I’ll call it -120.
Max Homa / Brian Harman vs. Tommy Fleetwood / Nicolai Hojagaard – I’m going to take a shot on Homa and Harman here. They need to make some noise. Call it -115.
Jordan Spieth / Justin Thomas vs. Justin Rose / Robert MacIntyre – I’m not touching this one, Spieth isn’t playing well, but I can’t talk myself into the other side either.
Patrick Cantlay / Wyndham Clark vs. Rory McIlroy / Matthew Fitzpatrick – I’m betting Rory McIlroy & Matthew Fitzpatrick here. The odds are probably really high. Call it -145

Pending Wagers:
Europe +100 – This one is looking strong
Europe by 1-3 points +300 – Need the Americans to make a comeback to bring this one back into play
USA by 1-3 points +380 – Likely dead
Rory McIlroy Top Point Scorer +900 – He is leading with 3.5. Hovland, Rahm, and Hatton have 2.5. Rory needs to win his singles match to avoid dead-heat rules.
Justin Rose Top Captains Pick Europe +380 – Rose is at 1.5 points. Must win match and have Aberg and Fleetwood both lose.
Ludvig Aberg Top Captains Pick Europe +430 – Aberg is at 2 points. Fleetwood is at 2, Lowry and Straka are at 1, Hojagaard is at 0.5. Win + Fleetwood Loss would get this one home.
Collin Morikawa Top Captains Pick Overall +550 – 1 Point, can only hope for a dead heat here.
Collin Moirkawa top Captains Pick USA +340 – I need Morikawa to win and Sam Burns to lose.
Ludvig Aberg Top Captains Pick Overall +900 – I just need him to win and Fleetwood to Lose and this one gets home as well.
Brian Harmon +500 Top Rookie USA+500 – He is at 2 points. Homa is at 2 points. Clark is at 1.5. Burns is at 1. Need a Harmon win and a Homa Loss to cash this one.
Brian Harmon +1000 Top Rookie Overall – Need Harmon to win and Aberg and Homa both to lose to cash this one and avoid dead heat.
Rahm & Cantlay Top Scorer Parlay +3300 – Likely dead. Check back if Rahm wins and Rory loses (Hatton, Hatton too) and also if Cantlay wins and Harmon and Homa both lose.
Viktor Hovland Top Continental Europe Player+190 – Hovland is at 2.5 points. So is Rahm. Aberg is at 2. Need Hovland to win and Rahm to lose to cash. Otherwise check dead heat.
Justin Rose Top English Points Scorer +350 – He has to win his match and he needs Fleetwood and Hatton to lose. He would then push with Hatton.
John Rahm to win 3 or more points +135 – Needs to at least halve his match.
2+ Tied Matches in the Singles +110
Rickie Fowler +800 to score 0 points – I just need him to lose his match and this one cashes.
Sunday Singles Matchups:
Jon Rahm (-120) vs. Scottie Scheffler (+122) – I don’t need to bet anything here. I already have a bet riding on Rahm in this match, and Scottie could bounce back big from historic loss.
Viktor Hovland (-122) vs. Collin Morikawa (+115) – I need Morikawa here, but I would lean Hovland. Going to pass on this one too.
Justin Rose (+146) vs. Patrick Cantlay (-155) – Patrick Cantlay is going to hear it from the crowd. +146 is too good to pass up for Justin Rose.
Rory McIlroy (-180) vs. Sam Burns (+166) – Again, the price is just too good on Burns. I also have a decent shot at hitting Rory top point scorer if he wins so this is a hedge.
Matthew Fitzpatrick (+105) vs. Max Homa (-122) – I could see this one going any way, this is a pass. Homa losing would really help me out though.
Tyrell Hatton (-130) vs. Brian Harman (+110) – Tyrell Hatton I think will struggle more in the singles format. I don’t love the price, but give me Harman here.
Ludvig Aberg (-102) vs. Brooks Koepka (-110) – Brooks is too big of a bully to lose here to the rookie after getting killed by him yesterday. Brooks will win this.
Sepp Straka (+104) vs. Justin Thomas (-120) – Justin Thomas is playing well, I’m taking him in singles. He still has more to prove.
Xander Schauffele (-170) vs. Nicolai Hojgaard (+145) – This course just sets up better for Hojgaard, this price is too good.
Shane Lowry (-110) vs. Jordan Spieth (+116) – Jordan Spieth was just awful today. This is too much to bounce back from over night.
Tommy Fleetwood (-145) vs. Rickie Fowler (+144) – I have a big bet ono a Rickie loss here already. I don’t think he can win this. I don’t want a tie to kill me, so put me down for a tie.
Robert Macintyre (+145) vs. Wyndham Clark (-122) – Again, the price I found on Macintyre is just too good. I’m going for it.
The first lesson here is that shopping around is very important in these matchups. Some of these lines are all over the place from book to book.
For next year I need to do more course research. Seeing how certain holes favor certain players will help with “leader after 9” and hole by hole betting. I’m sure there is value to extract from these markets, but I simply didn’t do enough research before this tournament for that.
There seems to be a some value on Europeans with many expecting the USA to come storming back.
